Codon Craft

Privacy policy

Effective date: 29 October 2026

Codon Craft is a puzzle game made by Chase Manning ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the Codon Craft apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, the web demo and this website collect, and how it is used. The short version: we don't ask who you are, we don't show ads, and we don't track you.

Information we do not collect

Codon Craft has no accounts or sign in. The apps do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, location, microphone audio or any other personal information. We do not use advertising, advertising identifiers or third party tracking, and we do not sell or share personal information.

Information stored on your device

Your progress, saved machines, hints you have revealed and your settings are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us. If you choose to copy or share a save code from Settings, that code contains your game progress only, and where it goes is up to you. Deleting the app, or using Reset progress in Settings, removes your saved progress from the device.

Purchases

Codon Craft is free to start, with an optional one time purchase called the Full Archive. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own privacy policies. We never see your payment details. The app only receives confirmation from the store of whether the Full Archive is owned, so it can unlock the rest of the game and restore it on your devices.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand how the game is played and improve it, the iPhone, iPad and Android apps may send anonymous usage events using Aptabase (aptabase.com), a privacy focused analytics service. These events record things like the app starting, a puzzle being started or solved, a hint being revealed, and the Full Archive offer being viewed, purchased or restored, together with basic technical details such as the app version, operating system and version, language setting and an approximate country.

These events do not include your name, contact details, account identifiers, device identifiers or advertising identifiers, and they cannot be used to identify you or to track you across other apps or websites. According to Aptabase, IP addresses are used only to work out an approximate country and are not stored, and sessions use a temporary random identifier that is not linked to you or your device. We look at this information only in aggregate. The web demo does not send these events.

App updates

When the iPhone, iPad and Android apps start, they check for small fixes we can send without a full store update. The check goes to Expo (expo.dev), the service that delivers these updates, and includes the app version, the platform, the update the app is running and a random identifier the app creates when it is installed. That identifier only helps Expo deliver the right update. It is not linked to your name, your store account or your device's advertising identifier, and we do not use it to track you. Expo handles these requests under its own privacy policy.

Emails you send us

If you email us, including with Send feedback in Settings, we receive your email address and whatever you write. The feedback email starts with details that help us track down problems: the app version and update, your platform and its version, your device model, how many puzzles you have solved and whether you own the Full Archive. Settings also copies your save code so you can paste it in if you like. You can change or remove any of this before you send. We use what you send only to reply and to improve the game, and we never sell or share it.

This website

This website has no accounts, cookies, analytics or advertising pixels. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles the technical details every website receives, such as your IP address and browser, to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, under its own privacy policy. If you arrive through a link with campaign tags, the store buttons pass those tags on to the App Store or Google Play, which show us only totals, such as how many installs came from each campaign.

Children

Codon Craft is suitable for players of all ages. Because the game does not collect personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal information about you, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you have any questions or requests about your privacy, including under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 or the EU and UK GDPR, please contact us and we will respond.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Codon Craft handles information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
